EXT DAY WESTWOOD HILLS APARTMENTS

A mysterious spectacled, slightly balding but handsome man approaches a UPS truck.

UPS GUY:
172?

MYSTERY MAN:

Yeah............Forman.

MYSTERY MAN opens his wallet as if to show some ID to the UPS GUY

UPS GUY, interrupting:

Don't worry about it.

MYSTERY MAN takes package and walks back thinking to himself: "You and I should worry, because you just gave $400 worth of gift cards to someone who may or not be the intended recipient. I would hope that if someone else were standing outside my apartment, you would have made damn sure they didn't receive something that was intended for me.

The Surge Incident

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Something reminded me of this, so I’m posting it here for easy retrieval.

Text from is here

Northeastern 2, Boston University 1 (ot) (Jan.16, 1998 regular season game at Matthews Arena) –You might call this a “re-surg-ence” of sorts for the Huskies. I’m sure everyone remembers this one from last season. After failing to break through in 12 previous tries, NU finally defeated the hated cross-town rival Terriers.

With 4,189 loonies armed and ready with their complimentary bottles of Surge, NU didn’t disappoint. This was truly playoff hockey, even if the calendar read January. The teams played a scoreless first period as Marc Robitaille and Tom Noble kept the offenses at bay. BU’s Nick Gillis finally opened the scoring with less than five minutes remaining in the second period. Just 22 second later, Justin Kearns ripped a slap shot past Noble to tie the game, setting the stage for a heart-palpitating third period. As is usually the case in close games involving BU coach Jack Parker, Northeastern was forced to kill three penalties in the final 10 minutes. Not only did the Huskies do it, they had the better opportunities down the stretch.

The game moved to overtime and no one left their seats. Neither team was going to settle for the tie, as the players sped up and down the ice looking for an opportunity to be the hero. At the 3:02 mark, it was Todd Barclay who would assume the role for Northeastern. He took a feed from Bobby Davis in the neutral zone and carried down the right wing. As he got closer and closer to Noble and the BU net, the crowd sensed something was imminent. You know when the noise level rises in anticipation of something happening? That’s how it happened here. Barclay’s backhander beat Noble through the pads and the Huskies raced off the bench to mob the sophomore from Fairbanks, Alaska.

As if it was in the script, the fans pelted the Arena ice with the Surge bottles, turning the Husky logo at center ice into the Celtics green leprechaun. Great game. Great finish. Easily the best memory from a season a great ones.

A year late and a dollar short

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Also, I’ve been struggling for a year with AudibleAir (Windows Mobile app for downloading my stuff from audible.com). For some reason, it would fail to download Opie and Anthony episodes. I don’t have any other subscriptions, and the standard audiobooks download fine. Recently I discovered that it would work fine just after a hard reset, and sometimes right after a thorough uninstall of all audible software on the phone.

Well, now for the past week, it’s been working like a charm after I hard reset the phone, installed miminal apps, and installed AA to my storage card. Too bad I’ll likely have an iPhone in a month, plus it’s less of an issue now that I can more easily get the episodes to my iPod (in higher quality anyway).

Sir, could you get off me please?

I was reading the Wikipedia page for Dan Ruettiger (of Rudy fame) and saw this oddly worded line:

Ruettiger himself has a cameo, as a fan behind Rudy’s dad (the man that Rudy’s dad bangs in joy after the sack was recorded) in the final game scene.

phishing scam
What I love about this is that
a) there is no product description or ID #
b) it says my username is shown to prove it really came from eBay, but I can’t find it anywhere.

The Sprain

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

I sprained my ankle today. I was visiting a building with my dad when I missed the last step of a staircase (going down) and my ankle twisted. Ow!

Get ya Oss to Mahs!

Saturday, July 16th, 2005

Today my mission was to get out of the apt on a Saturday, even if I was to do the same things. So I went to the Apple Store to pick up some stuff then go to Panera next door for their free WiFi (the difference between Apple and Panera is edibles and tables). So I went into Apple to get an iPod cable and an AC adapter for my PowerBook. Since I forgot my earbuds, and kinda wanted a new set anyway, I bought a pair of Nike HJ30 Vapor Flight….whatevers….hmm no good link, but the Apple part number is TB945LL/A.

Brought ‘em over to Panera, and I couldn’t open the freakin’ things. I asked if they had scissors I could use. Since they didn’t, I just made do without them. It woulda been nice to have them though.

The first I heard on the Accident Hash podcast. The latter was a recommendation at iTMS.

Updates (finally)!!

Friday, July 1st, 2005

OK, I think I better update everyone who’s reading this (both of you) with more updates on my life. Statistically, only 1/10 of one of you is remotely possible of caring about the last article I just wrote about Konfabulator. Since you’re here, you probably care more about more important goings-on. So here goes!

  1. I finally moved it outta my folks’ place to an apartment 2 miles from my office: 2 towns away and on the same street. Pics are here.
  2. I just started going to the NY Sports Club to lose some weight and sculpt my “muss-kels” (ah-kuh-kuh-kuh…). It’s a bit of a trip though.
  3. My brother got married in November at Disney World! I made them a site!
  4. On a less important note, I switched to Cingular so I could get a flip phone with Bluetooth. Got the Mot V551 for free after rebate. The phone doesn’t work with Salling Clicker but BluePhoneElite fills in nicely. On the plus side, it has a built-in AIM client. It seems similar to the V600 I could have gotten from Tmo.
